About Draig Wern Fencing Club...
THe Herefordshire Fencing Club was founded in October 2011 by the three musketeers: Daniel Robinson, Peter Ellis & Alan Smith. After numerous meetings with the Hereford & Worcester County Fencing Union Daniel, a local boy from Ross-on-Wye but an international fencer and coach by trade decided to take on the role as club coach. Peter Ellis, an experienced fencer who had moved to the area from the Isle of Wight took on the role as club secretary and Alan Smith another experienced fencer and a local from the nearby town of Leominster took on the role of club Chairman. From the beginning the three knew the odds were stacked against them as numerous clubs in the are over the decades had been set up and failed shortly soon after. After hitting some tough obstacles to begin with, the club soon became a success, attracting children and adults from all over the area. Below a timeline of the club's history.
